Holiday weekends provide a time for a lot of people to relax and unwind with family and friends. Alcohol is involved in many BBQ's, parties, and gatherings throughout the weekend. As a result, DUI arrests and DUI accidents always increase during this time. Law enforcement is well aware of this fact. Expect all local law enforcement agencies, including the Los Angeles Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, to be on "maximum enforcement" throughout the weekend. DUI checkpoints will be set up throughout southern California. DUI saturation patrols, where officers on patrol specifically look for potentially impaired drivers, have already started.
LAPD has announced it's planned DUI checkpoint and saturation patrol schedule for this weekend. This list does not necessarily include every checkpoint or saturation patrol location, but at a minimum you will see LAPD's presence in the following locations:

If you consume alcoholic beverages this weekend and drive you will run the risk of being arrested for DUI. You may be under the legal limit of .08 when you drive through a DUI checkpoint, however the breathalzyer machine, aka Preliminary Alcohol Screening test, may be reading high and inaccurately reflect a .08 or higher BAC. You will then be arrested and will be in need of a DUI lawyer to prevent you from being falsely convicted of DUI. The best advice is to avoid driving if you consume any alcoholic beverages this weekend. The consequences of a DUI conviction, even for a first offense, are not worth the risk.
