- Alameda and 6th Streets in downtown Los Angeles between 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.
- Avalon Blvd. at Denni Street in Wilmington between 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.
- Victory Blvd. at Valjean Avenue in Lake Balboa between 8:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.
Additionally, LAPD officers will be conducting DUI saturation patrols in central Los Angeles this evening between 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.
DUI saturation patrols and DUI checkpoints are frequently done in Los Angeles. DUI checkpoints, also known as sobriety checkpoints or DUI sobriety checkpoints, are locations where law enforcement officers are stationed to check drivers for signs of intoxication or impairment. LAPD believes that DUI checkpoints have a deterrent effect on those who might drive drunk or drugged, bringing about more awareness and encouraging people to use rideshare drivers, taxis, or public transportation. DUI saturation patrols involve officers on patrol in their vehicles looking for driving behavior that may suggest a person is driving impaired, such as speeding, weaving, following other vehicles too closely, and other vehicle code violations.
The best advice for everyone who plans on drinking tonight, or any night for that matter, is to not drive. Call Lyft, Uber, a taxi, or catch a ride with a sober friend.
